As the entrusted entity for implementing the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), ECMWF will issue an Invitation to Tender (ITT) to provide quantitative estimates of “climate forcings”. “Climate forcings” characterise the radiative effects of changes in distributions of radiatively active atmospheric gases and particles and they are an essential element for the understanding of the impact of anthropogenic activities on the energy budget of the Earth-System. Climate forcings are both short-lived and long-lived, depending on the atmospheric residence time of the corresponding species. The successful bidder will be expected to estimate radiative forcings from CAMS outputs, greenhouse gases, reactive gases and aerosol and will have to demonstrate expertise as well as a proven track record in the field. Duration of the framework agreement is 30 months. Expected starting date of the services is 1 January 2019.
